With the A+ year behind the Leafs now, what changes need to be made for this team to take the next step on their way to a championship?

They need an established Top 3 Defenseman, that isn't at the cost of one of our young guys

They need to not make huge deals that seriously cut into their cap for aging forwards who's best years of playing are behind them. Marleau was a bad signing that will hurt them over the next few years.

They need more veterans, they should trade that scrub American Matthews for a good ole Canadian boy like Jonathan Toews. They need more players like Ryan Reaves, and Steve Ott if they want to win a Cup.

I'm sure Toronto will do fine with their core. They just need an actual defender who can lead their defense. But from what we learned from Pittsburgh this year you don't need a amazing defense to win the Cup. I think it'll take a while before Toronto can compete for the Cup since Pittsburgh I think will continue to dominate the East. It took Crosby 3 years to make the Cup, let's see how long it takes for Matthews.

Yeah, Marleau a guy who can still produce and play full seasons, such a bad signing.

You know who else was a guy who could still produce? Jerome Iginla when he got to the Avalanche.

They need a good veteran defenceman that can play on the top pair with Rielly. Seabrook was a good option, but obviously it doesn't look like he's going anywhere anymore.

Oh ya Marleau is a bad signing. A forward who has speed and skill and is very good. Such a bad signing, boohoo.

Leafs are already under the cap lol they need to trade someone because next year they have 11 people to sign and they will not have enough cap

Marleau was a bad signing, too much and too long with a No Mouvement Clause

Being only 1 point in the playoffs is an "A+ year" ?

They need a top 4 d-man until Liljegren is ready, Andersen needs to steal some games, and pieces like JVR and Bozak need to remain on the team and not be traded.

I think Toronto should trade Nazem kadri for top 6 foward or a top 6 defense

From last place last year to playoffs? Yeah, that's pretty A+, something the Sabres couldn't do

The Sabres also didn't have Mike Babcock or a 1st overall pick. Imagine the Sabres if they hadn't been screwed by the lottery and had both Ekblad and McDavid. Also the Leafs weren't plagued by injuries at all like the Sabres were. Calm your tits and get off your high horse Mr. "We Beat the Lightning Without Their Best Players Into the Playoffs by One Point and Then Lost in Six Games in the First Round So We're the Best!"

Doclaf is right. I like the leafs, but they for sure wouldn't have made it if the lightning were healthy

I think they need a top 3 d-man. A third line tough guy that can score
